Another Day
So Lucian was asleep and the kids were playing quietly in their rooms so I decided to sit down on the couch for a few minutes, this is after home health leaves I might add and I should not have done that because then sitting down turned into laying down and I fell asleep for awhile. I should not have fallen asleep I had so much to do it is not funny and now none of it is going to get done or if it is I will be up to god knows when trying to pull it off. I just finished feeding Lucina and got the kids fed. For some reason he is refusing eating by mouth and I am not sure why he didnt do this before. I am trying to figure out what the change is. There is clearly something different. He is not going to the bathroom everyday either. I have been giving him a laxative but he still hasn’t gone i have even been giving him prune apple juice through his g tube as well as his formula. I usually feed him by mouth then give him his formula then in between I will give him an ounce of juice or so. But I just started the juice thing. I am hoping he goes soon. He has not gone really well in over a week but home health said his belly was nice and soft and his bowel sounds were good. So maybe he is using most of what he takes in. He does burn more calories than a normal child because of his malacia. So I dono I just want to figure it out if anyone has any ideas at all please let me know asap.

We’ve been having the same problem with Jacob on and off for a few weeks. He’s just 13 months now. My wife hit on the idea that it might be too much iron in his formula. We reduced the formula and added some cow’s milk. He’s also being given more water because we were pretty bad in that area too. It seems to be working. From every 3/4 days or so, it’s now two out of three days. So far so good.
You can try a pediatric suppository. That’s what I’d have to do when Lil’Gal would be constipated. And, when Farmer, Jr. had colic and would get backed up and gassy. I’d do the suppository.
Also, karo syrup. Yes, Ma’am. Just an ounce or so. Mix it with a little water or his formula (or maybe in his food, he might eat by mouth with that in there!)
Good luck. If he is feeling backed up, then that may be why he doesn’t want to eat. Hope nothing else is going on with all of that. Though, those meds from the dialation are sure to mess with drying him up too.
