Haleigh Cummings Dad: Ron Cummings Misty Croslin Wedding?
Five year old Haleigh Cummings was abducted from her bed in Satsuma, Florida during the middle of the night, February 10th, 2008. Police are still baffled by her disappearance and continue their search for this little girl. She was last seen alive by babysitter and live-in girlfriend of 26 year old bio-dad Ron Cummings, Misty Croslin ,17 years old. Now they are engaged to marry … supposedly today,Thursday, March 12, 2009.
This case rival’s that of Caylee Anthony for salacious, tawdry twists and turns.
Last week, Ron Cummings decided to get a picture tattoo of Haleigh with the inscription Daddy’s little girl, at a cost of $400.00. He said a friend paid for it.
This week, Ron Cummings proposed to Misty Croslin …. 28 days after his daughter went missing, and she said yes, of course. What kind of people think of marriage during a time like this?
Misty stated people would question their decision to marry, and Ron Cummings own mother, Teresa Neves, had this to say:
“It will be very small and private, Misty is actually fulfilling the wishes of Haleigh. Haleigh and Junior have often talked about how they would love to have Misty for their Mommy. They’ve asked daddy several times why you don’t marry Misty?�?
Misty has said she promised Haleigh she would be part of their wedding someday, yet the other day after releasing balloons in the air for Haleigh, Ron Cummings wrote this on his balloon:
“Misty and Daddy got married, just like you wanted, we love you.�?
Can you imagine how that child felt if she actually saw that on TV? But … they are doing it for Haleigh and Junior, because the kids want it …. how many of you would allow a 4 and 5 year old to decide such a life changing event? What is going here?
We also have bio-mom Crystal Sheffield, who postponed her own wedding due to Haleigh’s abduction thinking of filing for custody now. She has retained an attorney, Kim L. Picazio, that seems to actually have the childrens’ best interest in mind.
“We think she’d be the better parent, so we’ll be exploring how (Ronald Cummings) got custody in the first place, whether it was proper. We already have one child missing from his care, and he’s about to marry the 17 year old (Misty Croslin), who was home babysitting her and his son,�? says Sheffield’s lawyer, Kim L. Picazio, a family law expert from Broward County who has been interviewing locals by phone.
“From what I’ve gleaned from investigators, news reports and interviews with local witnesses and the mother’s family, I have grave concerns for the welfare of Haleigh’s little brother, Junior. When I get down there Thursday, I’ll be investigating if there’s any type move the mother needs to make to protect the last child that remains in the father’s custody.�?
Picazio is also bringing in a crack private investigator, William Staubs, 52, a gravel-voiced tough guy who weighs 250 pounds and goes by the nickname Cobra. He’ll be hunting witnesses, says Picazio, “who may not want to tell everything to a police officer, but may tell me things that could lead to finding Haleigh through a private effort.�?
So today is supposed to be the wedding day for Misty and Ron … yet the church will not marry them. Ron Cummings’ church even put up a disclaimer. Neither will anyone else they have contacted. (i.e. the funeral home, where the director declined to perform the ceremony because his notary had expired).
Meanwhile, Haleigh is still missing. She has blond hair and brown eyes and is 3 feet tall. Please call the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at 386-329-0800 if you have any information regarding Haleigh Cummings.
Note: Any notary in Florida is allowed to perform the marriage ceremony.
Update: Apparently, the wedding is still on.
Haleigh’s Father and Teen Bride are expected to honeymoon in New York City. First Coast News has learned the father of Haleigh Cummings will marry his teen girlfriend and be in New York City Friday for a morning appearance as newlyweds on The Today Show on NBC.
Marrying, traveling from Satsuma, Florida to New York City for a honeymoon and to appear on national television. Spending money on a tattoo of his missing daughter and an engagement ring for his child bride. This is all going on at the same time that the Putnam County Sheriff’s office is moved on to a new area to continue their search for Ron Cummings’ daughter Haleigh. Captain Dick Schauland reported that about 100 officers have been combing a wooded around the Cummings’ home
I think the behavior of Ron and Misty through this whole thing is very suspicious. I do not personally feel like Haleigh is dead but i do feel like someone knows where she is. The police report showed he said when he was questioned the morning Haleigh went missing that his dumb Bi@$ch Girlfriend told him Haleigh was gone.
Why would Misty’s Parents allow her to get married with her dead in the middle of this investigation? Why would Ronald want to Marry this girl when he still does not have 100% certainty she did not have something to do with the dissappearance of his daughter.
I think Ron is a Punk Womanizing Domestic Violence abuser. That is my Opinion! If you look at the Video of the Today show interview Misty looked scared and when asked why her story changed so many times she looked up at Ronald like what am I supposed to say and when he said nothing she said I don’t know. Also why would you let a Cousin come stay at your home that Molested you as a Child when you have a 5 year old girl in your home. Also why was Ronald never arrested for having sex with a minor? He admitted on National TV last night to Nancy Grace he has dated many teenagers. This is too much. God Bless Haleigh
I agree with Heather, something just isn’t right about Ronald and Misty getting married while Haleigh is missing! Ronald knew this wasn’t going to sit well with the public so his decision meant it was more important for him to marry Misty. Why? I think he couldn’t risk letting Misty slip away and her talking. So even if it looked bad, he had to keep tight reins on her.
Which brings me to the question that no one seems to be asking; not on television nor in the articles I’ve read. When was the last time anyone saw Haleigh alive, besides Ronald and Misty? For all we know the two of them could have fabricated this whole story and given Ronald the perfect alibi that he was at work when his daughter was kidnapped. Anything is possible, but one thing for sure, there is no perfect crime and the idea that an intruder came into their home while others were sleeping and not leave a trace….well, it doesn’t sound plausible!

Misty looked stoned when they interviewed her on tv and I am sure she had something to do with it..BTW is it me or does it seem like the police arent doing much on this case? When Caylee disappeared it was in the news daily, the police were all over it and yet there is very little reported on this case.. This little girl should get the same attention that Caylee did. I am also sure the reason they got married was because married people dont have to testify against one another.
Sue, you’re right on all counts. Something just isn’t adding up with Misty’s story and Ronald’s behavior. Strange coincidence that Ronald and Casey both had tattoo’s after the disappearance of their daughters. (Nothing wrong with a tattoo, so all you tattoo lovers don’t get on my case, I’m just stating a fact! Lol.)
I think the only reason why Caylee’s case was the center of so much attention (and still is!) is because mom Casey is attractive, and (for the media) that’s a big plus!
I don’t like the sounds of it. Kind of making me sick. sick people sick like mentaly unfit.
